Resume & Extended CV 

Christos Chrysanthopoulos was born in Tripolis and raised in Vachlia – a small village in the region of Gortynia-Arcadia (Greece). Currently serving as a Special Scientific - Technical Staff in the field of Humanities, Projects, and Grants Management at the Institute of Historical Research, National Hellenic Research Foundation (IHR/NHRF) (2022 – Present). Additionally, he holds the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Archives and Digital History at the Department of Archival, Library & Information Studies, University of West Attica (2025 – Present). Since 2018, he has been a Scientific Advisor and Coordinator for the "Initiative 21", a project initially launched to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. The Initiative, funded by public-benefit and philanthropic foundations along with the National Bank of Greece, has since expanded its scope to address climate change and environmental sustainability.

He served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Archival, Library, and Information Studies, University of West Attica (2022–2025), where he taught Archival Description Standards (P-6050, 6th semester) and Records Management (P-7020, 7th semester). From 2017 to 2022, he was a Tutor in Modern Greek Literature History at Praxi Epta Drama School, an institution recognized by the Ministry of Culture (Decision 28645/240/20.07.2008).

 

He earned his PhD in January 2025 at the University of Patras (Greece), Department of History and Archaeology (formerly the Department of Cultural Heritage Management and New Technologies). His academic and professional interests focus on the core principles of data management in digital humanities and the arts, with a strong commitment to advancing knowledge in this field. His doctoral research, centered on Digital Public History, was supported by the Research Committee of the University of Patras through the “C. Caratheodori” program. He obtained his BA in History (University of Thessaly-Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology) and he continued with a fast-track graduate entry for a second BA in Archival, Library and Information Studies (University of West Attica). He received a Master's Degree (M.Sc.) in Modern and Contemporary History (Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences-Department of Political Science and History), a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Adult Education (Hellenic Open University-School of Humanities) and a Master (M.Sc.) in Information Management in Libraries, Archives, Museums (University of West Attica).

 

In the 2010-2011 school year, he taught the "Greek Language" course at the Second Chance School of Kalamata and started his professional career. After that, his experience includes working as a researcher or archivist/archival curator for digital humanities projects for the Institute of Historical Research/National Hellenic Research Foundation (IHR/NHRF), National and kapodistrian University of Athens, University of West Attica, University of Patras and University of Peloponnese. He has strong expertise as a program officer with over ten years in the fields of grantmaking, grants administration, fundraising, research project management, scholarly communication, and cultural management. Among his collaborations are organizations such as John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, Piraeus Municipal Theatre, Greek Film Centre, Municipality of Tripolis, Regional Development Company of Parnonas S.A., Environmental and Cultural Park of Paros, Non-profit Civil Company “Network for the Cooperation of Municipalities of the Regional Unit of Attica Islands, ArtBOX, Economia Publishing, SKAI TV and Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT S.A.).

 

He is a member of the Non-profit Association for the Preservation of Historical Documents and Cultural Heritage “Arxeion Taxis”, of the Society for the Study of Modern Hellenism/Mnimon, of the Hellenic Archival Society and founder member of the Greek Digital Humanities Research Network (DH-GR).
