In his statement, the Mayor of Tripoli, Mr. Kostas Tzioumis, emphasized: "The city's Digital Museum is yet another proof that our municipal administration, through specific projects, keeps our history alive, highlights our heritage, and reinforces our city's extroversion.

However, it is not just the digital museum. We have also created a permanent digital exhibit at the Cultural Center on the Fall of Tripolitsa, realized the Lambrakis Museum in Kerasitsa, and upcoming projects include the Municipal Art Gallery in the Tsichritzis building, as well as the Olive and Railway Museum in Elaiochori. Additionally, we are maintaining and showcasing the historic underground areas of the Courthouse."

PROJECT DETAILS

The City Museum of Tripoli is not just a museum located in the city—it is a museum about the city and its people. It serves as a space where various voices and testimonies meet and are publicly exhibited through the creative coexistence of objects, stories, and oral accounts.

The creation of the physical and digital museum is based on three main pillars:

  1. Museum for Tripoli: This involves the establishment of a physical museum space within the city, featuring both physical and digital exhibits.

  2. Tripoli as a Museum: This concerns the selection of monumental exhibits within the city and the development of digital exhibits and tours at various locations.

  3. The Virtual Tripoli: This focuses solely on the digital aspect of the City Museum, where an online platform can serve as a think tank for residents to share their perspectives on the city, propose changes, and envision its future development.

The physical and digital museum of Tripoli serves as a cultural hub designed to act as both a starting point and a guide for visitors to explore the city's cultural sites and historical landmarks.

Located in the city center and utilizing multimedia and modern technologies, the museum will allow visitors to gain a comprehensive overview of all cultural venues in the municipality, as well as key historical milestones in Greek history. Through the integration of physical and digital information, including 3D videos, interactive digital applications, and holograms, visitors will achieve a holistic understanding of historical topics. This will inspire them to visit various sites across the municipality or deepen and enrich their previous experiences of the city.
